What are the prerequisite for applying?
In order to apply to the Executive MBA program, you must have:
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- A minimum of 6 years of full-time work experience, typically calculated from the time you earned your undergraduate degree
Is it possible to apply without currently being employed?
Yes. Employment is not a prerequisite for the Executive MBA program.
Do I need to take the GMAT or the GRE?
No, GMAT/GRE scores are not required to apply to the Executive MBA program.
Am I at a disadvantage if I do not submit GMAT or GRE scores?
No, applicants who submit GMAT or GRE scores do not have a better chance of gaining admission than those who do not. However, you must demonstrate sufficient academic/quantitative preparedness in your application, either through prior coursework, professional experience, and/or certifications.
How long is the admissions interview and how do I best prepare?
The admissions interview is 45 minutes long and scheduled with one member of the Admissions Committee. It is formal and evaluative. The interview will focus on your background, career goals and interest in the program. Dress is business attire.
What are the application deadlines?
Can I apply to both the Part-time and Executive MBA program at the same time?
No. You can only apply to one Stern degree program per admissions cycle. For further details, please refer to our Admissions Policies section here .
Am I eligible for a student visa while studying in the Executive MBA program?
No. The Executive MBA program is considered part-time study and, therefore, we do not provide student visas. International applicants are required to hold an appropriate visa prior to applying. Additionally, they are responsible for obtaining the visa independently of the program.
Which visas are accepted for the program?
There are a multitude of visas that would allow you to study in the program, many with very specific requirements. We are unable to comprehensively list them all, in fear that we may miss one for which a prospective student is eligible. We strongly suggest that you contact an immigration lawyer with the expertise to determine a visa that will allow you to study part-time.
Do I need to take the TOEFL exam if my native language is not English?
No, you do not need to take the TOEFL exam. During the admissions interview, as well as through the formal application, the Admissions Committee will assess the English language proficiency level of applicants for whom English is a second language.
Does NYU Stern accept transfer credits from other institutions?
No, NYU Stern does not accept transfer credits.
What are the main differences between the Full-time, Part-time and Executive MBA programs?

Are the residencies required and how are they structured?
There are two required week-long residencies during the first year of program, one domestic and one international. There is also an optional week-long international residency during the second year of the program.
The domestic residency, which is held at a conference center in Westchester, New York, begins with an orientation day on Sunday. During the week, several courses commence and students begin working with their study groups as cross-functional teams.
During the international residencies, also known as Global Study Tours, students participate in meetings and in-depth discussions with leaders of industry, financial institutions and government organizations. For more information on the Global Study Tours, please click here .

Tuition and Payments
What is the cost of tuition?
Tuition and fees for students beginning the program in AY 2017 – 2018 are $189,200.
What is included in tuition and fees?
The cost includes all fees, books, study materials, meals on class days, teaching assistants for selected courses and residencies. Travel costs to and from the Global Study Tours are not included, and students are responsible for airport transfers abroad on arrival and departure days, as well as incidental costs (passports, visas, etc.).
When is tuition due?
Tuition is payable as follows: $5,000 non-refundable deposit due immediately upon acceptance, with the remaining balance divided into four equal semiannual payments due on July 15 and December 15 of each year.
Do you provide financial aid?
Yes, there are many federal and private loan programs available for Executive MBA students. Please visit Stern’s Graduate Financial Aid website to learn more.
What scholarships are available through the Executive MBA program?
A limited number of partial scholarships are offered each year to applicants receiving minimal or no financial sponsorship. Recipients are selected by the Admissions Committee on a merit basis. Does the Executive MBA program participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program?
Yes, NYU Stern is pleased to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program. This program is available to veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces who are 100% eligible for the new Post 9/11 GI Bill. For more information, please click here .

What does “sponsorship” mean?
There are two types of sponsorship, time sponsorship and financial sponsorship. Only time sponsorship is required for the formal application. For more information on the types of sponsorship, click here .
Is company financial sponsorship required?
No, financial sponsorship is not required to apply.
How do I negotiate sponsorship with my company?
